About me
My species, the Amur leopard, is located in southern areas of Russia. We are known to live in the wild for 10 to 15 years. In case you can't tell me apart from African leopards, members of my species have longer legs, which help us walk through thick snow. We also have unique thick borders around our rose-like markings, which you can't find on other leopards. Unfortunately, our fur is being sold, which is one of the reasons why we are critically endangered.
In our ecosystem a friend of ours is the Amur Tiger. This guy is the key stone species in our environment and is the reason we are still alive.

Where I Live
My species and I have adapted to live in the temperate forests, rather than living in the savannas of Africa. My habitats include temperate Broadleaf and Mixed forests. I am usually found across northern China and in the southern areas of Russia. Since I live in a temperate forest habitat, I am able to withstand a wide range of precipitation and temperature.
How I Live
We need large territories in order to avoid competition to our prey, which we hunt strategically. Amur Leopards silently stalk their prey and ambush them with a brief surge of adrenaline. To scrape meat off of our prey's bones, our tongues have special hooks, called denticles. Unfortunately, we do experience some competition with the tigers that share our territory.
